Spiritual Weapons

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

If being a Christian was easy, then everyone would be one right?  A Christian is promised eternal life with Christ Jesus in Heaven if we forgive other people and have faith in Jesus Christ.  Sounds easy, so why do we need weapons?  What is all this talk about warfare?  Who are we fighting anyway?  These are just a few questions I had when I was a younger Christian.  For the longest time my biggest and strongest enemy was myself.

I would hear a teaching about walking in the spirit and not fulfilling the lust of the flesh.  The brain is flesh right?  So I would listen to the voice of the spirit,  even if it didn't make any sense.  I would obey, unless it was against the law.  This caused major shipwreck in my life. I believe I'm still serving God today because of the grace of God on my life.  He watched me go from one ditch to another ditch until I learned to walk in the middle of the road. There is no magical formula or ten steps to walking in the spirit.  It is simply loving and trusting God enough to give him control of your life.  It's about knowing God and that takes a lot of time reading and studying the Bible, and prayer.

Love of God:      If you love God you will want to obey him, because you wouldn't want to do something that would displease him.  When you love God you would want to spend time with God, not doing things for him, but just being with him, praising him, loving on him.  When you spend time with him, you learn his presence you learn his voice.  One time while I was adoring God.  I felt something I never felt before and I asked what was I sensing and it was "goodness"  Jesus said that there was none good but God.  I prayed to God to increase my love or Him and over several years he would show me a different facet of himself that would make me love him more.  He is truly wonderful.  It is really hard to sin against God when you love him.  Pray to love God more and more.  He is worthy.

Fear of God:    The fear of God will keep you strong during a trial or disappointment.  The fear of God is respect for God.  We need to respect God just because of who he is.  He is the Creator.  God spoke to Job about his wonderful creation and Job responded.  I know you can do all things and nothing is hid from thee.  God is God and there is no one mightier than Him.

The Word of God:  The Word of God is a very powerful weapons when used through God.  The word of God can be used to fight off temptation like Jesus did in the desert.  If you are tempted to steal something, say thou shall not steal.  If you look at a member of the opposite sex, say thou shall not commit adultery and anyone who lust after a person in his heart has committed adultery with her already.  We can study the Bible and keep our swords sharp.

The Blood of Jesus:    In the book of Genesis Abel offered God an acceptable sacrifice, the firstlings of his flock.  In Genesis chapter four, we read of Abel's blood crying out to God, after Cain killed him.  In Revelation, "They overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.  From the beginning of creation to the end of days, blood has been shed for the remission of sins.  God ordered Job's friend to sacrifice oxen and rams for their strong words against the Lord God.  Moses commanded Israel to sacrifice to the Lord God for atonement of sins.  Jesus Christ, the son of the living God, shed his blood for the sins of the world.  The blood of Jesus cries out to the Father for mercy for the children of men.  In Exodus, the blood of the lamb had to be applied to the doorpost so that the destroyer would pass over their homes. The blood of Jesus needs to be applied to our lives with the word of our testimony.  An example:  If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His cleanses us from all sin.  Our confession is:  I declare that I walk in the light and the blood of Jesus cleanses me from all sins, sin and deception go from me in the name of Jesus because of the blood of Jesus.  In Hebrews 13:12  ...Jesus might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered outside the gate.  Confession:  I declare through the blood of Jesus Christ I am sanctified, separated from sin, and set apart to God made holy with God's holiness.  In Hebrews 12:24, Paul declares that the blood of Jesus speaks better things than Abel's. Apply the blood of Jesus to your life, declare what it has done for you. I have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, I have had cleansed by the blood of Jesus, justified and sanctified by the blood of Lord Jesus Christ.  The life of God flows in me because of the blood of Jesus,  Demons flee from me because of he blood of Jesus.  Oh precious blood of the lamb, without you I can not stand in the presence of God Almighty.  Blood of Jesus cries out from the mercy seat, forgive them Father.

Praise and Worship:  Praise is being preoccupied with God and what He has done,  Worship focuses on God's character and His acts.  Let them praise the Lord; for he commanded, and they were created.  Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men.  Praise brings you closer to God - Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; be thankful unto him, and bless his name. In Psalm 119 - Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.  We were created to praise him. I am the happiest when I am praising God.

The Name of Jesus:   The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous ran into it and are saved.  We have power and authority in the name of Jesus.

Prayer:  Do it

Holiness:  Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.   Holiness is power.  Jesus was and is holy.  Apostle Paul was and is holy.  He was a Pharisee of Pharisees, following all of the commandmens of God. Once Apostle Paul was born again, and the Word of God was joined with the Spirit of God, there was power for miracles and healings.  We need to be holy people.  God hates sin.
