Creator of "Fighting the Unseen: Life With Diabetes" website, Katherine Marple, was diagnosed with diabetes mellitus "type one" on September 23, 1998.  She was fourteen years of age, 5'8" and 112 lbs.  She is the first in her entire bloodline of relatives to have any type of diabetes.  She has been through Lantus, Levemir, NPH, Humilin R, Humilin N, Humalog, Novolog, the mixed pens, and a Medtronic Minimed insulin pump (710) and infusion set.  She has experienced ketoacidosis, insulin-shock comas and seizures caused by diabetic reactions.  She is the author of Wretched (this is my sorry), a story about the effects of diabetes complications on a relationship and on yourself.  She is published in Diabetes Health magazine for related articles.

 

 

 

 

Co-creator of "Fighting the Unseen: Life With Diabetes" website, Reverend JR Burrows, has been raising money to find a cure with the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation since 1999.  He is the founder of Kawayan Media LLC, which concentrates on his photojournalistic interests.  He is a student at the New York Institute of Photography, and has completed the program at Ritz University offered by Wolf Camera.
